The Children of Lir is an Irish legend which tells the story of King Lir and his four sons and daughters who were changed into magical swans by their evil step-mother, Aoife. It has now been lavishly illustrated by Calgary artist Alexandra Soranescu
Alexandra discovered her passion for art and design at an early age when she found her mother's colurful anatomy book and her older sister's Hans Christian Andersen storybooks. During her childhood, Alexandra's favourite storybook was Pinocchio, and the illustrations depicted within played a pivotal role in the development of her unique drawing style. Later in college, Alexandra further progressed her illustration techniques to involve ink was and black pen line done by hand.
