Inge Bremer-Trueman: Winging It

With her Mustang filled to the nuts with the crap she’s salvaged from her sordid but blessedly brief marriage, Sonja Pfeiffer heads north onto Highway 63 to begin a clerical job at the tar sands plant near Fort McMurray.  Up there she will finally earn the big bucks needed to give herself what she has always wanted – flying lessons. When, after only a few days in her new digs she meets Pete, an air traffic controller on temporary assignment, Sonja believes her stars are surely now aligned. And the proof—Pete has his own airplane. And he likes her. A lot.

But so does agreeable and devoted, Connor, hotshot soon-to-be DC3 pilot at the local charter company—and scatter-brained Randy, Sonja’s beguiling flying instructor, newly arrived in town with his own laundry basket full of come-ons and shortcomings.

Along with new friend Annie, from Newfoundland who carries a burden of over-sized baggage of her own, Sonja takes flight on a journey of betrayal, grief, and a hangar full of kerosene-fueled choices.
